I’ve been musing recently over the hackneyed use of hyperbolic terms to describe the “failure” of the US, and how often I’ve heard so-called “intellectuals” describe it in the terms you just used.

50 years of my life, plus 20 years preceding the 1950s in my parents' lives, and moving on back to the Victorians. Or Edwardians. Whatever.

What bores y’all are. Say something original about the “failure” of your predictions and your imaginations.

So glad too, all of you can find things to crow about when things are dark for so many.
